The jyotish graha (planet) governing boldness, courage and valour has entered its weakest sign yesterday. Mars entered Cancer (Karka) and will be in this state of debilitation till 30th October 2011. And, to make matters worse, Shukra ( Venus) too entered its Neech Rashi today. Shukra is debilitated and at its weakest in the sign of Virgo. Venus will leave Kanya to enter Tula (Libra) on 4th October 2011.

Yesterday, on 17th August 2011, Sun and Venus both have entered Leo (Simha) in a direct motion. Shukra is poornasta which means it is fully combust as of now and will remain in such a state for next one month. It will end its transit on Leo on 10th September 2011 when it enters Virgo. Sun will stay a little longer and will enter Kanya Rashi on 17th September 2011.

Some interesting transits and planetary events have happened in recent days. Yesterday, 15th June 2011, was quite remarkable as Sun entered Gemini (Mithun). A day before, on 14th June 2011, Mercury (Budh) too had entered Gemini. Sun will move to Cancer on 17th July 2011 and Mercury will move to Cancer on 29th June 2011.
15th June 2011 also saw the darkest and longest Lunar eclipse of this century. I too kept awake till late hours to see this rare phenomenon yesterday. A lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan) occurs when Sun, Moon and Earth come in a straight line on a full moon night. The Earth's shadow hides the brilliance of the moon and the eclipse takes place.

Rahu and Ketu always move in a retrograde motion, which means that they leave a sign through its first degree and enter the sign ahead of it through its last degree. This month, on 6th June 2011, Rahu left Sagittarius (Dhanu) to enter the 30th Degree of Scorpio (Vrishchik) and Ketu has similarly left Gemini (Mithun) to enter Taurus (Vrishabh). These two perpetually and exactly samsaptak planets will stay in these new signs for next eighteen months, till 23rd December 2012. The previous transit of Rahu was in Vrishchik and Ketu in Vrishabh was from 30th October 1992 to 19th May 1994. The next similar transit will be from 11th January 2030 to 31st July 2031.

The benevolent planet Jupiter (Guru) or Brihaspati has already changed signs on 8th May 2011. It has left its swagrahi rashi, Meen, and has now entered the fire sign Aries or Mesh. This fiery sign Aries is a friendly sign or Mitra-Rashi for Brihaspati and it allows Jupiter to show some of its very positive, beneficial and long term effects on all of us. Jupiter will leave Aries and will enter Taurus (Vrishabh) on 17th May 2012.
