Today, the most powerful and the brightest of all nine Jyotish Planets, Surya, has entered its own sign, Leo (Simha). Sun joins its natural friend, Mercury, in this fixed but fiery sign. Leo enhances the natural dominance, confidence and governing abilities of Surya to a high extent. But, it being a fixed sign, the ego and self esteem are more in control than what is observed when Sun is in its sign of exaltation, Aries (Mesh).

As per Jyotish transits Shukra ( Venus) has entered the sign of Kanya (Virgo) yesterday, on 1st August 2010. As we all know, Kanya is the Neech rashi for Shukra, which means that this brightest of all planets becomes debilitated and weak in this parched and dry sign ruled by Mercury.

Yesterday, on 23rd July 2010, Jupiter ( Brihaspati) became Vakri ( retrograde) in the Jyotish sign of Meen (Pisces). Around the same time Budh has begun its unusually long stay in Simha (Leo) during which it too will get into a retrograde motion for 23 days. In Jyotish, such retrograde motion of two planets at same time is given very high attention and importance.

Today, Mars has formed a yuti yoga with Saturn as it has entered the dual natured sign of Virgo (Kanya). This Mangal-Shani conjunction in Virgo was last witnessed from December 1981 to July 1982, when both Mars and Saturn went retrograde in the sign of Virgo. The next Mangal-Shani yuti in Virgo will be only in August 2040. The last movement of Mangal in Kanya was from 10th August 2008 to 25th September 2008. The next similar transit will be from 21st June 2012 to 14th August 2012.

On 5th July 2010, Venus (Shukra) left the sign of Cancer and entered Leo (Simha) and a day after on 6th July 2010, Mercury entered Cancer filling the vacant space left by Venus. This has left Sun and Ketu in a yuti in Gemini. Venus will stay in Leo till 1st August 2010. Mercury will enter Leo on 23rd July 2010 and Sun will enter Cancer on 16th July 2010.
