Term Definition
Pushkar

Pushkar is the famous Holy Town in Rajasthan, India. Pushkar lies very near to the city of Ajmer. Pushkar is famous for the only temple of Brahma in the world. The annual Pushkar fair is held around Kartik Poornima every year.

Pushparag

The usual yellow or pale sapphires are called 'Pushparag', which means 'having the colour of a flower'. Pushparag has become the now popular term 'Pukhraj' which is the most common word used for Sapphires in India.


The rare orange, orange-pink or pink variety of Sapphire is called Padmarag in Sanskrit which means 'one having the colour of a lotus'.
